On October 14th, students, teachers, parents and friends participated in the Hike for Local Food Shelves, a fundraiser to benefit two local emergency food banks. As part of our kindness curriculum, we believe that one way to show kindness toward others, is to help when we can and in this case, to raise money for food for families who do not have enough food of their own. Everyone hiked from the historic Farm Barn, past the horse barn, around the frog pond and on through the beautiful autumn day to the Breeding Barn. Along the way, the students and teachers talked about how hiking can help raise money and awareness for less privileged families. The Renaissance community raised a total of $ 1,613 which will be distributed between the Shelburne Food Shelf and the Chittenden County Emergency Food Shelf. Thank you for your support.
